I would see rooms I loved online, but when it came to introducing one of their skills or thrills into my own home it just didn't seem to work. I would become frustrated until I figured out that the things I saw in other peoples homes didn't sit right with me because they just weren't, well, me. Sounds like a no brainer right? But really I think it would be interesting to see how the blogs we are reading influence how we decorate and ultimately how we live.
I started this blog out of a desire to create a home that truly speaks of my family, who we are, and things that inspire us---and to encourage others to do the same. That is all well and good you may think, but where does style and design come in? Well I daresay there are universal design principals that really do work in just about any home setting---that is the formula. As for style, that's where creativity comes in. Using the things you love and your own intuition in the rooms where you live, you truly can create a beautiful living space that is updated, stylish, and most importantly very very you.
I want to put out there that I did not attend design school and I am not an interior decorator. I've used my artistic skills, my noggin, and a lot of trial and error along the way to figure out what works in my space and what doesn't. I'm still learning, but if you are really honest I am guessing you are too. We probably have this in common: We don't just want apartment spaces or houses. We want homes. We're homies and and like a girl scout decorating troupe exploring good design, we will figure it out together.
